Discover native copper from asphalt pavement

See the bright red particle - it is copper, a critical material for the United States. But now, it takes the role of aggreagtes on the street.

The Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan was named “Copper Country”.- plenty of copper deposits. Especially, it is unique and rare - native copper. Historically, large quantities of native copper were produced, and millions of tons of copper tailings were generated. Even the native copper can still be found on asphalt-paved streets, where it played a role of gravel. When exposed to sunlight, the copper gravel—some pieces as large as 3/4 inch—appears remarkably bright.
