Corrosion resistance of stainless steel
It’s conditional for stainless steel to resist corrosion. This photo was taken from a door in a hotel during the pandemic. The door knobs were made by stainless steel, but the knobs was periodically sprayed with sodium hypochlorite solutions (NaClO) to inactivate the possible coronaviruses (disinfection). As a result, not too long, the knobs lost its luster, instead of many foamous spots on the surface. Of cource, the microbes would not be able to survive within such environment.
